The Great Smoky Mountain Arts and Crafts Community is located in Gatlinburg and. was founded in 1937.  It winds for 8.5 miles through a beautiful area of the mountains just outside of Gatlinburg offering beautiful views of lush meadows of colorful spring wildflowers, dazzling autumn foliage, and a babbling meandering creek as you follow the loop.  There are over 100 unique shops including art galleries and quaint places to eat.  A personal favorite dining choice is the Wild Plum Tea Room.  If you choose to visit the Great Smoky Mountain Arts and Crafts Community, be sure to allow enough time to take everything in.  Some shops even offer quick lessons in their crafts such as the gentleman who teaches you how to construct authentic German paper stars.  You can find everything from woodworking to stained glass and handmade brooms to jewelry.  I can almost guarantee that you will not be disappointed if you decide to make the trip.
